After a move, loss, crisis, or any big change we can find ourselves rebuilding: rebuilding our lives, trust, relationships, and routines. Through the account of Nehemiah, we see the details of the rebuilding of the city of Jerusalem after the exile. But more than that, we see the rebuilding process of the people of God, which provides not only hope but also a model to all believers of what rebuilding looks like in our own lives. Through this study, we’ll look at God’s central role in the rebuilding process and how we can ENDURE in times of change and transition.

The four sessions of this study focus on…

  • Session 1: Honesty and Faith
  • Session 2: Prayer and Vocation
  • Session 3: Word and Worship
  • Session 4: A Way Forward

This study is a great way to look into the story of Nehemiah and God’s people as they rebuild. Within that story are important themes for our youth as they face times of change, upheaval and transition.

In addition, the author, Pastor Brandon Metcalf, has written a self-guided journal for navigating life changes. This short journal is meant to help you to reflect on where you’ve been, where you are now, and where you’re going as you face a “rebuilding” time of life. It could be after a move, loss, crisis, transition, conflict, injury, new relationship, graduation, or any big change, positive or negative. The Scripture passages and journal prompts here are designed to walk you through a Biblical rebuilding process, as found in the book of Nehemiah.

This is designed as a companion piece to the full study, “Rebuilding: How to ENDURE During Life Changes.” It is best used as a follow-up to that study, to be utilized any time a life transition happens, to help keep you rooted in God’s Word and promises of Jesus Christ, who is our cornerstone.

Your youth will begin to understand how God communicates with His people, why they should trust His leading, and how they can better follow His direction so that they can endure the ever-changing realities of life. They will also learn how God’s plan of salvation endured despite His people failing to listen, and that there is forgiveness and hope found only in Jesus when we do fail.
