Philippians 2
Humbleness isn't something we hear about much in our world, but in this Advent devotion, we are reminded how Jesus's humility saves and sets an example for us.
This study is intended to take the participants through the book of Philippians as we consider what it means to be a friend in Christ. This is a ten session study that is designed for young adults/campus ministries.
Resilient youth remain humbly confident in their faith in the face of joys, crisis and transition. This study helps youth to dig into what humble confidence looks like for Baptized children of God as they walk through life.
In order to lead in a God-pleasing way, it should come from a humble servant heart, just as Jesus modeled throughout His life.
The theme "I Am An Echo" plays off one of the daily themes from the 2016 Youth Gathering. We are the echos of Jesus Christ, sharing His Gospel in what we say and do. These devotions (along with the Bible studies with this same theme) are designed to help young people focus on the source of their faith and to consider how in living out their faith they are an echo of Jesus. In our vocations and service, God is at work helping us to echo love, mercy, and joy to others.
At the 2019 LCMS Youth Gathering, young people got a chance to serve by making Plarn. Plarn is yarn made from used plastic grocery bags that can be crocheted together to make mats for those who struggle with homelessness. Along with the instructions, there is a short devotion included that can work with any local servant event.
A youth night with Bible study on compassion and reaching out to others with love.
When we focus on ourselves, our eyes are looking inward, but our focus should be Jesus and His humility shown to us on the cross.
