In this psalm, David is crying out to the Lord, and he wants God to answer him quickly! The beautiful thing about the love of our Father is that he hears us no matter what. Just as David came to God, desperate for immediate help, we can come to our Father, too, desperate for his rescuing work in our lives.
In Psalm 23, one of the most well-known psalms of our time, David wrote about both the good and the bad things of life. David trusted that God would take care of him, no matter what the circumstances may be.
We need to be reminded over and over again that God is Real, and God is Present, and God is God.
In Psalm 67, we see the people of God coming to him with a wish list, but it is not for their own benefit. They ask God for a gift, but with His purpose in mind.
Through Jesus, God freely gives us Himself as our goal--our future--our inheritance. We have the greatest portion we could ever want: eternity with God.
One of God’s greatest gifts that He gives you and me is that of belonging to Him, of being His. In Baptism, we are given His “family name”—His identity. In Baptism, we are united with Jesus.
In the real stories of our lives, let us point to the real goodness and grace of our Real. Present. God.
We don’t have to hide from God! The good news is that we can bring all of our real-ness—all of our hurts and pains, all of the scary stuff of our hearts—before God… and He hears us!
