Media Review: Some Nights by Fun

http://www.ournameisfun.com I am not sure quite how to start this review. I am not a huge fan of this album. I am nervous saying this because the name of the band is Fun. Who in their right minds says, “I don’t like fun?” Saying I dislike Fun. makes me sound ridiculous! If you don’t own the album, you have to admit that you don’t have Fun. Tricky, tricky name. Well played, Fun. But, alas, I don’t like Fun. At least, I don’t like Fun. as much as everyone else seems to like Fun. I first heard their hit “We Are...

Media Review: Ceremonials by Florence + the Machine

www.florenceandthemachine.net Guilt is real. As sinners we are objectively guilty before our holy God. That is, we are guilty because God’s laws say so. He gives us the standard of perfection, the rules to be followed, and we rebel against Him. Media Review: The Water and the Blood by Sojourn

Full disclosure: I am not a fan of much contemporary Christian music. I think I can count on one hand the contemporary Christian artists that I find worthwhile. I find it worthwhile when a band is both musically engaging and theologically stimulating. While in college, I worked in the music section of a Christian bookstore and found that much of what was sold was quite shallow both lyrically and theologically. The music was either boring or overproduced all in an effort to make me shut my eyes, throw up my hands, and sway. The music was directed at the...
