Do people drive you CRAZY sometimes?

Are there days you think, my life would be great, except all these people are driving me NUTS?! I feel that way at times – okay, many times!

Our vocations require other people.

There is no way for us to serve out our vocations alone, isolated in a room. God designed and ordered our world so that the only way vocation works is when we interact with other people. Believe it or not, vocation is not service to God. God does not need our service and in fact does not need us at all. Vocation is service to other people, which honors and glorifies God.

Absolutely everything we do is part of our vocation and is part of what we do to serve God. Homework serves God. Texting serves God. Cleaning the kitchen serves God. Talking with friends serves God. Eating toast for breakfast serves God. As Christians who have been saved by Jesus’ death and resurrection, everything we do is in service to God. We do all of these things together with and around other people, who see what we do and are served by what we do. This is how God designed vocation.

Heavenly Father, help me to remember that everything I do is in service to you. Help me love other people well and in doing so, honor you. Thank you for your sacrifice for me. I love you. Amen.
