The beauty of God’s creation is all around us. It’s hard to look at a sunset without wonder and awe, no matter how old you are. The amazing features of many animals captivate us. And then, there is one of God’s most complexly beautiful creations: us!

As college students we can sometimes find it is hard to find the beauty in the world. We can loose track of the many beautiful gifts God gives us because life can be very demanding. We tend to worry greatly about grades, events, and tests…and that is just the beginning! We can lose track of the beautiful blessings that God has given us and get lost in a dark place.

What is beautiful to you? Maybe the flowers outside your dorm room or the comfort of certain place in the world? Do you find beauty in someone you know?

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things. (Philippians 4:8)

God created so much beauty in this world for you to enjoy.  You can see it right in front of you in so many aspects of His creation. God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. (Genesis 1:31). We all feel down sometimes but it doesn’t need to take over and suck you into darkness. The light of God’s love shines brightly in what he has done for us in Christ.  His beautiful light of forgiveness shines on you. That makes you beautiful too.

I understand that sometimes it is difficult to look on the bright side, but I also know that God has gifted us with so many beautiful blessings.  When life gets dark and ugly we can find beauty in God’s Word.

“How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who publishes peace, who brings good news of happiness, who publishes salvation, who says to Zion, “Your God reigns. The voice of your watchmen, they lift up their voice; together they sing for joy; for eye to eye they see the return of the Lord to Zion. Break forth together into singing, you waste places of Jerusalem, for the Lord has comforted his people; he has redeemed Jerusalem. The Lord has bared his holy arm before the eyes of all the nations, and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God.” Isaiah 52:7-10

We can find beauty in God’s promises.

“But now, this is what the Lord says, he who created you, Jacob,he who formed you, Israel:”Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.” Isaiah 43: 1-3a

We can find beauty in His son, Jesus, who made it possible for us to live with him in the eternal beauty of heaven!

Think of everything  true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, praiseworthy and beautiful that God has done for you!
