Tournament Fundraisers

Whether it’s a popular card game or a sporting event, these community events can bring in funds for your group.
Golf outing/tournament – Golfers pay about $90 to play. Hole sponsors pay $100. If you find a course that will let you rent it out for about $30 to $40 per golfer, you will get 50% profit. You can also save on costs by finding a company that will print hole sponsor signs for discounted or for free advertising. Consider holding a banquet after the event that youth bring/donate food for and parents cook/prepare the meal for the golfers.
Basketball tournament – Host a church league basketball tournament and sell concessions during the event. Teams pay an entry fee. You will need to hire referees (unless you have officials who are willing to donate their time). You can also charge an entry fee for spectators.
Church-wide card game tournament – Euchre, cribbage or any other locally popular card game will get people out. You could also do dominos or Scrabble if those games are popular in your area. Charge an entry fee for each person or team playing in the tournament and award prizes to the top players. (Or, perhaps bragging rights are enough!)
