I don’t know about you, but I don’t always have the best attitude when I wake up in the mornings. I’m usually pretty tired from a short night’s sleep the night before, and if I have a lot going on that day, I’m stressing out as soon as I get out of bed. There is so much to do, so many people to please, and I just don’t know if I can handle it!

The devil loves to work on us in this way. He likes to tell us that we aren’t good enough, strong enough, or prepared enough to make it through the day. And so often, we believe him. Once we do that, even amidst all the blessings–big and small–that we have in our lives, our day is shot and we no longer strive to live as God’s children, or really even “live” at all. We fall for the lies the devil tells us and forget the hope we have in Christ.

“O Lord, how many are my foes! How many rise up against me! Many are saying of me, ‘God will not deliver him.’ But you are a shield around me, O Lord; you bestow glory on me and lift up my head. To the Lord I cry aloud, and he answers me from his holy hill. I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the Lord sustains me” (Psalm 3:1-5).

God gives us the power EVERY DAY to live as a new creation. Because of Christ, we do not have to succumb to living in sin or in the power of the devil. We don’t have to believe the lies because Jesus’ death and resurrection has set us free from sin and Satan. This doesn’t mean that our lives will be easy, but Christ came so that every single day, God looks on us with glory and keeps sustaining us. Praise be to the God of the universe who looks on us with His amazing image, making us new again every morning!
