On a Christian Campus

“I will give to the LORD the thanks due to his righteousness, and I will sing praise to the name of the LORD, the Most High.” Psalm 7:17

Well, I did it. I successfully completed my freshman year of college. Looking back, all I can do is give thanks to God. He’s blessed me beyond imagination. I’ve compiled quite a list of things I’m thankful for:

I’m thankful for music.

I’m thankful for hot tea.

I’m thankful for books.

I’m thankful for laughter.

I’m thankful for friends. The friends that I’ve made in this first year of college are constantly encouraging and loving. I’m sure these friendships will last a lifetime. I’ve not only made countless new friends, but my existing friendships have grown even deeper than they were before I started college. I’m thankful for my marvelous roommate and best friend.

I’m also thankful for all the opportunities God has given me for personal growth. I’ve learned a lot about myself, about other people, and about life this year. I think I’ve changed significantly in this first year of college. I’m really looking forward to what God has planned for the rest of my life.

I’m thankful that God has placed me in an uplifting Christian community. Not only have I grown personally, but I’ve also grown spiritually. It’s become much easier for me to go to God with problems, trusting that he has everything in control. Reading my Bible has become less of something I should do every day, but more of what I want to do every day.

Above all and sustaining all, I am thankful to God for sending Jesus Christ to become a weak but flawless human, die an excruciating death, and come back to life on Easter morning. Because of him, I can spend life in this world looking forward to my perfect life in the next.
