Brandon is currently living in Lake Ozark, Missouri, with his wonderful wife, Dana. He serves there as the Director of Christian Education at Christ the King Lutheran Church with a focus on children, youth and family ministries. In this role, he especially loves teaching, speaking and using stories to help others learn about God, find their value in Him and realize that nothing can satisfy them outside of Christ.
As an author, speaker, and Director of Christian Education, Cassie Moore oversees kids and youth ministry at a multi-site church & school in St. Petersburg, Florida. She’s author of “Authentic Youth Ministry: Straight Talk about Working with Kids, Teens & In-Betweens” and contributing author for “Connected for Life: Essential Guide to Youth Ministry.”
She’s worked with students from coast-to-coast, grew up in Illinois and Minnesota, has a degree from Concordia University in Irvine, California, and has served as a Gathering Planner for the last three National Youth Gatherings, in addition to extensive freelance writing and speaking. She is passionate about Christ-centered ministry and outreach, and enjoys observing culture, travel, kayaking, and talking to strangers. She and her husband, Pastor Tyler, have two dogs. Cassie Schermbeck is a DCE at Faith Lutheran Church in Georgetown, TX, wife of Tim Schermbeck, mom of 2. She went to Concordia University Nebraska, and received her MA in Youth and Family Ministry from Luther Seminary in St. Paul, MN. Cassie has served in DCE ministry since she completed her DCE Internship in 1999. Cassie enjoys fiction, biking, swimming, time with my family and time with teenagers. She has served on NYG Planning Teams and GloryBound (Texas District Youth Gathering) Planning Teams. The most fun she has in youth ministry as a DCE is coffee and conversation one-on-one with teenagers, and emceeing events.
Dr. Dave Rueter has served as a Director of Christian Education in congregations in California and Texas. Dave currently serves as both the Youth & Family Facilitator for the Pacific Southwest District as well as the Director of the DCE Program at Concordia University, Irvine. He is married to his beautiful bride Andrea and is dad to James and Wesley. He enjoys serving the church as a volunteer, teaching adult Bibles studies on Sundays and hanging out with the high school youth on Wednesday nights at his church in Anaheim.
Emily (Norman) Phoenix graduated from Concordia University, Seward and received her DCE certification in 2008. She is currently serving at Galilee Lutheran Church in Pasadena, MD. She pursued DCE ministry to fulfill her desire to serve God in many and various ways. "I really enjoy the opportunity to work with all ages and help them understand and apply their faith in Jesus Christ in their lives."
Leah Abel graduated from Concordia University Nebraska and spent 11 years serving as a DCE in Florida. She now lives in Centennial, Colorado, with her daughter Amelia and her husband Scott and is Student Ministries leader at Our Father Lutheran Church.
Rebekah Freed is a Kansas-grown girl who went to college in the cornfields of Nebraska before being sent to Tonawanda, New York, in 2010 on her DCE internship at First Trinity Lutheran Church. She joyfully continues to serve there as the Director of High School and Young Adult Ministries. In the few warm months that Buffalo has, Bekah enjoys spending time outside hiking, facilitating the high ropes course at a nearby camp, or visiting the many parks and waterfalls in the area. The rest of the year, she bundles up inside reading, writing, playing her guitar and wishing it was warm out. Pastor Tim Bayer currently serves as Lead Pastor at Concordia Lutheran Church in Pullman, Washington, located on the campus of Washington State University and a few miles from the University of Idaho in Moscow. Tim is married to Bethany, and together they have two sons, Ethan and Noah. As a family, they enjoy playing outside, being with their extended family on mission, serving their community, and cheering on the Cougs (Go Cougs!).
