Because You Are Young: In Your Plans

This past Sunday I joined a local choir and we’ve begun preparing to perform Handel’s Messiah (it’s the one with the Hallelujah Chorus). One of the songs, All We Like Sheep, has lyrics based on Isaiah 53:6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. You can check out a video of this song, along with a fantastically intense director, here: (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dNmWgQp1_iE) I really love this song because I always imagine hundreds of sheep walking in their own direction. Because You Are Young: In Your Focus…

Last week I converted to the world of smart phones. Our new employer has given them to us to use while we are working here in Seoul. Our high school years were spent looking forward to our college years, and our college years looking forward to graduation, but then you graduate and what? Seriously. What? For some people their life is no longer on the “track” of education and graduation and though we might be excited to begin our career it’s still a rough transition. I know one of the most abrupt changes after college...

Because You are Young: In Purity…

(Pictured – A man burning incense and bowing before an idol at the Kun Iam Tong Temple in Macau, China.) When you ate dinner last night what where you thinking about? Maybe some things like…Does the food taste good? How will I cook it differently next time around? Should I add more salt? Is this good for my diet? Etc. Were you considering if the food was clean or unclean? I’m sure thoughts of pure and impure only crossed your mind if thinking about whether or not it was organic. If you were a Christian in Asia you might...
