“But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in His name.” John 20:31

The Youth Gathering has many great components in it. There are so many great speakers, entertainers, and other things to help aid you in your walk with the Lord during the week. But, one of the greatest ways that the Gathering can help you grow in your faith is in your own family groups!

The Gathering suggests that congregations divide adult leaders into family groups of 2-6 youth. This helps organize your group better as well as gives your adults specific youth to minister to. There are many benefits to utilizing your adults as family group leaders, but for now I would like to highlight two.

First, having family group leaders make it easier for the primary leader to keep track of his/her group. For example, instead of counting the total amount of heads every time you are doing a head count, you can count your adults and then it is their responsibility to make sure their family group is present. It is a quicker and more efficient process.

Second, and more importantly, this system gives youth an adult who is specifically there for them for the entire week. Some groups will have their family group leaders lead break-out small group studies before, during, and after the Gathering, yet, others will not. In either case, throughout the week of the Gathering, youth participants know that their family group leader is praying for them, supporting them, and helping them. This will benefit your youth and ultimately bring your youth and adults closer together and hopefully your group will build relationships that will last long after the Gathering is over!

May God bless you during your family group times and continued blessings to you as you continue on the Road to the Gathering!
