As a college student, I am constantly busy. Almost all of my time (including sleeping!) is scheduled out. As I prepare for full time ministry, my classes are training me for a future that will be busy as well. The fact of the matter is, we live in a very busy world with other busy people!

“Rest” could seem like an odd term to associate with worship, but it is a completely applicable with the world we live in today. You might think, “Isn’t worship a ‘response’ of sorts? Doesn’t that imply action?” Well, yes, but not always in the sense that you may think. God calls us to “rest” in him, and worship is a wonderful way to do that. We are allowed to slow down our busy lives for a bit and just rest in the beauty, majesty, and promises of our Lord. We can take joy in this rest and enjoy the peace outside of the chaos that is found in the promise of Christ!

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” (Matthew 11:28-29)

Lord, our lives are constantly busy and overwhelming. Allow us to take time and just rest in your presence. May your peace rule our lives and calm our hearts. In your name, Amen.
