Often we talk about God whispering to us…but sometimes I hear His voice clearly above all the noise. I was sitting in a coffee shop a few weeks ago, and I couldn’t believe how LOUD it was in that environment! Usually this bothers me, because I go to the coffee shop to relax, read or get work done, and it was nearly impossible! But for some reason, this particular time it didn’t bother me, because it seemed as if God was LOUDER than the rest!

It’s easy for us to be LOUD and obnoxious, and drown out God’s voice in our lives. But God is bigger than that…His LOVE is bigger than our mistakes…and His voice is most certainly LOUDER!

“On the last and greatest day of the Feast, Jesus stood and said in a LOUD voice, If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him. By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified.

“On hearing his words, some of the people said, Surely this man is the Prophet.

Others said, He is the Christ.

Still others asked, How can the Christ come from Galilee? Does not the Scripture say that the Christ will come from David’s family and from Bethlehem, the town where David lived? Thus the people were divided because of Jesus. Some wanted to seize him, but no one laid a hand on him.” John 7:37-44 (NIV)

Jesus invites us to come to Him and in this part of Scripture He says it in a LOUD voice! He desires us to come to Him, to receive the LOVE that has been freely given to us through His death on the cross and resurrection!

Can you hear God’s LOUD, powerful, pure & gracious voice, above the chaos of this sinful world?

Prayer

Dear God, I ask that you help us to hear your loud, powerful, loving voice above the rest. May your Word and command tower above the voices that tempt and destroy in this earthly life. Help us to remember that Jesus Christ came to die on the cross and rise again and wants everyone to know the truth of his love for us.
